Security alert! (Do you know who's waiting for you at home?)

Without being alarmist, suggest we all look at this link and just think next time we get into our comfort zone on the drive home.. We always think this only ever happens to other people ..... Until it doesn't! This happened to someone I know (not this case) and has had an alarming effect on them -pls, Lock your doors when driving at all times and stay safe!

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-22...Rover.html

Ps I know this happened after the owner got out of the car but there are ways to counter this too. Pm me if you need to know more. (I'm sure Noddy et al could also give guidance if required.)

Good call DB, it's always a worry and part of the reason i don't like my wife driving mine on her own... OK mine is alittle more extravagant than most FF's (due to the business) which maybe makes it worse!

Craig Thumbs Up

My favourite FFRR feature, from a safety/security viewpoint, is the auto lock after hitting 10mph.

Hacks me off that my daughter can't lock herself into her Ford Ka before driving off. .

Joe, fit an aftermarket alarm with SSL (speed sence locking)

I have a 2004 4.4 v8 vogue, my car does not lock when driving unless I press the button. Is it meant to lock automatically when moving over 10mph. If it does any ideas what the fault may be? Gone:

It's an option that needs turning on in the ccf to enable. I've just got into the habit that as soon as my door or the last door close the button is pushed Smile

Along these lines its a reason why you should never drive into a parking space but reverse into one. If anything happens you can drive forward much more quickly and safely than you can reverse. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Won't work, is manual locking only by key. Only way is to get in, wind window down, lock door with key etc. Big Cry

Just to clarify, the best defence is awareness of who or what is going on around you. If the bad guys see you doing even the most basic awareness drills, they will leave you alone and look for an easier target.

Your most vulnerable points are at home and at work. you must be alert to suspicious people in the vicinity of your home and at work. Look for people or cars not usually there. Check out of your house windows before leaving. Alter your timings if you can and also your route.

Before you get in your car, see if there is anyone near - walk past your car if necessary and then walk back when you are happy. Never bleep your opening key until you are at the door and ready to get in straight away. Lock your door ASAP.

These are the most basic means of staying one step ahead. Also, in traffic, always ensure you can see the rear wheels of the car in front. This means you will have enough space to pull away and around them if necessary.

A lot of this is common sense but over time you build up an awareness of what's not right. Hope this helps.

Kingpleb,

whats is the ccf? Also how do i turn the automatic locking on so they lock once the speed is over 10mph.

Do I need a IID tool? I know someone with a snap on computer tool. Gone:

CCF is the Car Configuration File.

Need one of the below to edit it
IID
Faultmate
Autologic.

T4/IDS/SDD from Landrover could likely do it but will not let you play directly with the ccf Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Prob far more chance of winning the lottery than this happening to someone, bit like those nutters preparing for the end of the world! On the other hand I love a tear up so if someone wants the car bring it on !!!! One day your life will flash before your eyes......................................make sure yours is worth watching!
