My first air suspension fault !!

Just got home after a crappy day fixing my sons central heating and other plumbing faults. My wife then tells me she started the car and heard a hissing noise, so switched it off.
I have just been out to look. The car looks level. I started it, 10 seconds later a loud hiss for 3 seconds came from behind the offside wheel. I got out, closed the door, and a few seconds later the blast of air came again for about 3 seconds. It sounds like a hose is off hopefully and not a bag split. I would have thought if it was the bag the car would have sunk.
I'll investigate tomorrow but any thoughts?? Previously..

I have heard of hoses coming off the airbags (even on the forum). My bags were recently changed and it looks to me the hoses are relatively easy to do. The hoses are the "standard" plastic air hoses you see in industrial automation with the brass nut connection.

Could also be a leak in the hose or at the compressor. Good luck hunting for the problem. MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Sounds like it could be the air line going from the air compressor to the air tank. i think this hose goes through the off side wheel arch to the tank. it would prob start hissing when the compressor starts up to top the tank up. as you say, if it was the air spring then it would probably have dropped in that corner. also the hose to the air spring i would imagine would let it drop aswell. if its a standard size hard plastic pipe you get straight joining connectors that are just a push fit. these are used for the airlines on hgv's. you may be able to cut the burst bit out and use one to join the pipe back together again. would save having to replace the whole pipe. think i might have some lying around. would have to check the size though. if you ain't too far from me you 're welcome to one if you like. '04 td6 se

I am looking forward to checking tomorrow. Thanks for the offer wats39. Hopefully it is something easy as the weather is not brilliant for pulling a car to bits! Previously..

Laughing Seriously, we have cleared a bit of ground at the front and we are going to build a garage fit for a FFRR. Well, that's the plan. I just have to come up with a design, get it approved at planning etc etc...
Anyway, I hope tomorrow is dry.. Laughing Previously..

I may only be 27 but I don't remember having this weather at all to work on cars outside? What happened to this Global warming we were promised?

I guess that since you went easy on the juice last night and signed off at an early 3:30am you are now lying on your back underneath the FFRR sorting it out Laughing Laughing Laughing
