just watched that, a few oops moments in that video, though i dont know how you can get the bumper off any other way, maybe pull more gently...... or possibly a bit of furtling with a screwdriver to release the clips. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Exactly!

Warm water and a good reason why when you wash your vehicle to spend some time jetting water into each crease. half the problem is the Censored that cakes in there and the other is the plastic just gets old and brittle, hence the warm water treatment. 1/2 fill a kettle and boil, then when boiled fill to max marker with cold water and give it about 30seconds to cool down just a little more and then pour over each side before removal.

To fit the towing parts you also ned to remove the rear bumper iron. This means work in the boot which isnt too bad really. I did mine from 6pm to 1am one night taking my time and no cracked lugs Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Thanks for fitting but had a few quotes and am considering a fitter do it..

My local fitter spoke about the warm water and plastic tools to remove the bumper - which impressed me as he sounds knowledged - and he quoted £550.00 for detachable with genuine plug and play 13 pin supply and fit with warranty.

Next closest was PF Jones with £487.00 supply only for matching kit, £644.00 fitted

For the added £80 I think am just going to get it fitted....

Nick, I have a second hand but 2005 "as new" armature (not been fitted as far as I can see) and removable tow bar and neck sitting in my garage.

I bought it for my 2002 by mistake and you only need the electrics (£50?) and ECU if you don't already have it (£90?)

Pics are in my gallery. Pm me with an offer.

Thumbs Up

That’s the wrong video, that only removes the outer cover of the bumper, no good for fitting a tow bar. The only valid part is pulling the sides out. You don’t need to take the black trim off and the four screws under it, nor the screws along the underneath. Instead you need to lift the spare wheel cover, remove the locker covers either side of the boot, where all the electrics are, then the floor trims either side to get at the four bumper bolts at each side ,8 in total and remove their 16mm nuts. The whole bumper then comes off in one piece (the bit he removed and the bit he left) there’s a much better video on here somewhere, I’ll have a look for it.

The video I followed for full bumper removal is [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aISGcPDdkwc]. Having a ratchet spanner for the bumper nuts is a big timesaver.

You can certainly do it that way but I would argue that you are making an unwieldy item into a heavy unwieldy item.

I did my tow bar by myself so doing that would not be easy apart from the fact that once you have released the sides (preferably not by tugging them apart) the rest of the bumper cover removal is quick and easy.
It also gives you the chance to replace all the rusty clips and screws with stainless parts.

On top of that getting the bumper screws lined up through the tow bar armature and into the body work would be done blind.

The job is also made easier if you buy/borrow an air ratchet to remove and replace the bumper nyloc nuts, its a tedious job especially on the left where there is little room to swing a spanner.

Overall it was a reasonably easy job to do albeit a heavy one. Range Rover 4.2 Supercharged 2006
