Has anyone experienced smoke from new brakes. I fitted new front discs and pads to my tdv8 (brembo) and the last couple of high speed runs have ended with smoke coming from them. I cleaned them thoroughly before fitting but hope it will burn off soon. You feel a bit of a dick at the traffic lights when other drivers are trying to point out that my cars on fire........ |

When you put your hand on the wheel, does it feel super hot? If they are, the brakes are binding, maybe only slightly.

I changed the front pads & discs on my old Volvo 850 T5 years back a couple of months before I sold it, went to bed them in on the motorway at night, (100-0 as fast as possible lol) It bedded them in nice with a fair bit of smoke from them. In hindsight, probably not the best way of bedding them in, but I sold it on a few months after and they were spot on. 2006 Mercedes CLS

Probably not considering any manual you read will tell you to bed them in gently and avoid sudden/sharp braking for the first 500 miles. |

hmmmmmmmmm, hard for me to follow that rule due to being a bit 'progressive' . It didn't do it tonight anyway so whatever was on them. must have now burnt off. |
