Here's a question for you. I'm on The DFDS Sirena going from Harwich to Esberg at the moment. I have been called to the car deck to switch off my alarm. I have no idea how to do that. It's a 2010 Vogue SE with smartkey ignition. If you lock the doors, the alarm is armed. If you leave it unlocked, it locks itself and arms the alarm. Any ideas welcome!

not familier with the 2010 but doesnt a double press only lock the doors and not activate the alarm, also any thing on the screen menu? ... - .- -.

As discussed in another thread. From the facelifted 2010 onwards (electronic dash) it is the other way round I believe: one press to activate the alarm without the sensors and press twice to superlock: sensors activated.

Or..........and this may not be an ideal situation........Unlock the car, open a door and close it again and it will stay unlocked + alarm off.

Your comment about the car locking itself again only occurs if a door is not opened. It is programmed to assume that if it's unlocked and nothing else occurs somebody has made an error.

If you have a tracker that's probably activated too as you have vehicle movement with no ignition feed to the tracker ECU.  2006 4.2 SC

CSK is correct. On the key you will see a white padlock, with a red one behind - this indicates that a second press will super lock the car. Only one press will not activate internal sensors - useful if you need to leave dogs in the car etc.

Thanks guys. I had pressed twice, hence alarm going off on the ship. In the end I had to leave it unlocked, but who was going to nick anything from a secure car deck? I know for the return though, so thanks again.

I've now read the handbook properly ahead of the return voyage. To deactivate the alarm on 2010 and later car with the TFT instruments and smart key ignition you go into the vehicle settings menu and uncheck alarm. Simples.
