Had a neighbor who has a 2010 Range Rover S/C send me this. Makes me cringe to think about wrecking my RR. Any of you guys wrecked your Range Rover (or really any car)? How bad was the wreck? And how much does it cost to repair a RR? I remember about a month after I got my current Range Rover my daughter backed her car into it and damaged the back bumper and was about $2100 to repair.

What did that collide with?

He was on the highway and was arguing with his 2 kids. He didn't realize that traffic had come to a complete stop in front of him. He swerved out of his lane and collided with a barrier between an exit and the freeway. Current Cars -

Ouch, I bet that hurt, dont think a bit of filler or a polish up will get that back like new
Hope they wallk out of that ok though.

I have always said 'children in cars are a distraction' to my kids when they have an argument, thankfuly its not often now they are older. If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

Haha, I bet it won't. But thankfully all three of them walked away with just bruises and scrapes. But these kids are used to it. Their mother is what you would describe as a soccer mom who can't drive. She drove their Lexus LX-570 through their garage and then earlier this year she totaled her Mercedes Benz GL while getting on to the freeway and side swiping a Prius, then rear ending a lorrie. Current Cars -

Lucky people. Wonder if they'd have been so lucky if not in a RR?

The photo shows up the car very well. The passenger compartment looks completely intact.

Glad everyone was pretty much unhurt, you can replace the car, but not your kids.

Mind you I don't think I would want her taking my kids to or from any football games!

Haha, in all honesty their premiums are probably really low. This is a very well off family who I wouldn't be surprised if they just went out and purchased a new car all cash with out ever involving the insurance company. Current Cars -

Yip mine was in a shunt but not like that! It was close to be a write off but the insurance company pushed thru the repair and the car hire and inconvenience payout within 2months.

Repair value was £9k
Hire car total was between £10,000-12,500
Extras £4k.

I actually nearly pleaded with the paying insurance co to write it off due to the hire car cost and length of time I knew it would take but they refused to, even though when they did the maths it was going to be a good bit more than it's top Book value.

Basically a jag s type drove into the drivers side of the vehicle near enough classing as t bone as he tried to do a U turn in the road and jumped forward as he had waved me past!

It caught from the front wheel all along the side to the rear which then rode up over his bonnet

The drivers door was replaced including the window mechanism, the front wing, drivers rear door just reskimmed and at one point the side panel including the sill was goon to be ordered but instead it was all pulled out and inspected by LR before given the all clear. Glad to hear they are OK and glad to hear they didn't hit anyone else. Those crash barriers are designed to soften the impact and I bet that helped them as well.

Good to know FFRRs have a solid passenger compartment, I mean if you see the damage to the front and the passenger compartment seems very much still intact, that is a strong cage !!! Glad to see someone else testing it for us so we can feel safer.

I have to say (touching wood with all extremities) that my kids are very well behaved in the car, actually they are quite pleasant to have aboard, lots of singing and they don't argue very much (also not at home). I also try to not let them distract me when I'm driving. Still I also sometimes get distracted, not necessarily by the kids and am glad that our cars have so much automated, so less chance of distraction  MY 2010 5.0 SC Galway green and sand interior!!
Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!

Ouch! About a year ago my wife's old Mercedes ML was hit by a drunk driver in a Chevrolet Tahoe while it was in a parking garage, he hit the front quarter panel, backed up, tried to drive away, backed into someone else's Beamer, then drove straight back into the side of our car again. The guy was caught and all charges went to his insurance. I know for a fact the bmw was totaled the entire windshield was out of alignment, and the frame was obviously bent (3 series convertible) The entire left side of our car was mangled. I was sure they were gonna write it off, and I'm pretty sure the reason they didn't was because we requested to not have a loaner car (we have other vehicles she can drive, just not my rangie!). Repair bills ended up coming to $31,000 because I had them repair at the MB dealership and it was only about 2 months after the new body style was released so parts were expensive and difficult to find. Poor car, it was only a month and a half old then had to spend nearly 3 months at the dealer being repaired. The car was never the same after that, we sold it 10 months later with only 7800 miles and got our GL-550 and couldn't be happier ( I just wish they would make a Range Rover that seats 7 that not a sport ) Current Cars -

Did the $31K of repairs not totally screw the part ex value when they checked the Carfax. A friend of mine had a new 5.0 Mustang with less than 1K miles that was hit by an uninsured driver in Kemah that had just over $11K of repairs, he did get an extra $5K payout for loss of value but was getting totally screwed when trying too sell before his wife moved back to the UK so ended up sending it with her as the value is much better over here. My local guy who works for me just got a 2013 Expedition EL from the Ford auction for $12K below trade because it had had a bumper replaced and no dealers were bidding on it due to the "accident history" even though it was only a simple bolt on repair it had been recorded on the history.

US insurance is totally different to the UK, no kids can drive a V8 truck over here and most US policies cover any driver on pretty much any car. Even when I was looking a buying a car to keep in Houston rather than borrow or rent the premium was only around $1K declaring me as the owner with a foreign licence and that was for a big V10 SUV. I did look at an older 4.2 Supercharged that had been part-ex last month as would have only cost me $15K cash but was told to stay away by the dealer (a friend of a friend) who said it had a few issues as he had been unable to get a decent warranty on it, which is why he was letting it go cheap as a trade sale. There is a difference between knowing your sh!t and knowing you're sh!t

It did take quite a bit of value off of it, but since we sold it to the same dealership that repaired it, and who we bought it from in the first place I think they cut us a bit of slack than they normally would.

And I didn't know that. I'm actually from England (Bristol) but moved to the us when I was 9. Still go back probably year or two to visit family though. How long ago did you live in Houston? And what part? Current Cars -
