United States 2008 Range Rover HSE 4.4 V8 Bonatti Grey
RSE IR Remote Volume not working (headphones no sound)

So gang

I need some advice on what to do.

1) I have a 2008 RR with RSE and when I turn on the RSE and the headphones - no sound on the headphones.

2) I have held the headphones really close to the IR in the ceiling but no dice

3) I opened the center ceiling up and took a picture of the the RSE IR blaster with a FLIR camera - the theory being it should be "red" as the IR blasters are on. See attached - it seems like its dead

this leads to the following conclusion that either

A) the IR blaster is bad - SEE FIRST PICTURE - OUTLINE OF FINGER POINTING TO IR BLASTER
or
B) the cable connection going back???? is not connected correctly
C) There is a THIRD cable in there not connected to anything (alarm?????) THIS IS THE SECOND PICTURE

Any suggestions are appreciated.

I want to add one more comment which I am not sure about

WHEN I PLUG IN A IPOD INTO AUX 1 or AUX 2 - there is no sound on the SPEAKERS. (the video is displayed on the RSE screens in the back) - even when I select AUX on the main head unit as an input.

Is this correct behavior? I always thought that connecting a device to the AUX1 or 2 Audio jacks would allow sound to be played on the car speakers (not headphones)

Just a tip but there's No need to use a FLIR camera.

If you point an IR device that's transmitting, at say the camera on your mobile phone ,you'll see the IR emitter flashing in the camera view finder.
