Roof Rail Strips - one end won't stay down

Merry Christmas to all!

I have a 2003 4.4 V8 Autobiography and I have noticed that on one of the rail strips that run along the roof from front to rear, one end is sticking up. I have tried to push it down but it keeps popping up, this is the end near the tailgate. Everything else on them is fine, including the little flip up ports that I presume you take out to fit bars etc.

Anyhow, would anyone recommend I glue this down? I tried a supermarket superglue but it just flips up so I need something more substantial/stronger I think. Not quite sure why it pops up at that end, nothing is stopping it from sitting down in the groove, it just looks warped a little.

Any thoughts/suggestions? Has anyone had this problem?

Hi mate,
I spoke to dan (duckworths)

The clips gone. Prise the strip up gently, unscrew the old clip off the peg.
Clip the new part into the strip ANC push it onto the peg.
Job done
Merry christmas

I have prised it up but I can't see anything that looks like a clip. I can see a black threaded stalk about 1-2cm in height.

Can someone tell me how these clips fit on? I can see a black peg I guess but nothing attaches to that. My options are glue or source some new clips from somewhere but I have no idea how the clips fit on the rail strip.

The clips have a hole in the middle that fits to that peg... The clip maybe still in the rail? If so, the peg part has broken... If not, it looks like it is simply missing...

My advise would be to either A, buy 2 or 3 clips to replace/repair the broken end or B, remove the strip (carefully) and replace all the clips... Just incase there are more clips broken further along Thumbs Up

Thanks for the advice. Can you point me in the direction of where I would buy said clips from? Smile

I received my clips so I lifted the rail some more and found I had two broken clips. So I fitted the 2 new clips onto the pegs. I only pushed them on but they would not push on all the way down without me breaking my fingers, was going to get a rubber hammer of some sort and hammer them down but though best of it in case they broke.

Looks like these new clips (the centre hole is different than what was originally on the vehicle), more of a triangular hole, I assume hand pushing these things on is OK or does it require to be hammered on?

The rail appears stuck in place now and better than it was although not quite flush (as in flat) but I am just being picky. I was going to remove the rail and hammer the clips down some more but I am worried of breaking them Smile
