Panic Service!

Hi all
Happy New Year!
Have recently changed battery on my 2004 TD6, but still occasionally get the HDC warning! But hey!

The other half has just rung as broken down on A2. Car was driving fine then the HDC warning came up a few times. Then the dreaded bong and "Fuel Inject System" warning came on and car cut out. Car just turnt over and over. Left for 5 mins then it fired and drove no issues the 4 mile home.
Have read many posts and appreciate I gotta get it on diagnostics to get any direction to the problem.

But in mean time I had better service it quick (I know it isn't the cure but will make me not feel as guilty) as hasn't been done in a year (and I've just been told it's been run down to fumes in the tank for the last month or so!!

I wanna do the Fuel, Oil but while I'm there I want to K&N or Green Cotton Air filter, also the EGR Blank and Breather filter mod.
Can anyone advise if I need pollen or carbon cabin filter? As ECP offer both....Also what the name of the updated "BMW vortex" filter thing I was meant to change? I remember ECP done both the complete item or just the filter for a BMW, but can't remember what it was called.

Cheers so much

Crankcase breather. Have a search for it . The upgrade, which does away with the need to service the breather filter is described as BMW vortex crankcase breather. John

Awesome. Thank you!
Have read a few posts that give you a couple of options of part numbers. Will try and find the one I need and order that.

Thanks

Pollen or cabin filter, they mean the same.
Don't get the one from ECP. Total rubbish, I know they do different makes (around 4 or 5 IIRC) I picked up a Crossland one. Was nothing like the original Land Rover one and was a sloppy fit inside the housing meaning most of the airborne contaminants would have passed down the side and over the top of it filling the FF with all that outside crap.
Stick with genuine.

To be honest I'd get the standard air filter as they are so cheap for a decent one and have been proven in tests before to be one of the best ones. Using the oe paper filter I mean.

Oil I got mine for a good price off amazon and before that ebay.

Also worth getting a small inline filter to replace the one for the gearbox breather and a cabin filter as well while there. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Thanks so much guys!

I know the former keeper had it chipped and gearbox changed so suppose I should poke my head under bonnet and see if the EGR has already been blocked and/or the Vortex breather changed?

Couple of blanking units on ebay £24-£40
And am still struggling with part number for the breather.
I'll give LR a call in morning for Cabin Filter. Cheers! Is it 1 or 2 (P38 had 2!)

Is the small gearbox breather the little plastic inline one attached to the fuel filter housing?

As I say, I know this isn't going to cure the Injection fault that came up (once so far) but will make me feel a bit better lol.
Thanks.

Yes thats the filter and they are always grubby!

The cabin filter is one big unit Smile

The breather part number is on here somewhere and possibly in the wiki.
I got the part number and bought a new genuine one from ebay as it was 1/2 the price of BMW and still came in their box Very Happy FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

one piece of decent sized old carpet or card board box and job done. Also with having run the car for a few miles before hand to warm the diff fluids up the heat off the exhaust helps keep you warm Very Happy FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Cheers guys.
Managed to pick up a Gen BMW Breather, ordered a EGR blank unit, Bosch fuel and oil filter. Will get the cabin filter from LR and pick up an inline fuel filter (for the G/Box Breather).. Mind you there's some shiny chrome ones on EBay for £6! Wink

Have since driven the car for around an hour since the injector warning and all seems fine? Here's wondering if I'm gonna get away with it! Confused Accept, some days your the pigeon, some days your the statue!
