Tool to remove badge decor

Folks,

My "Autobiography" badge is somewhat faded and looks tatty and I'm planning on replacing it but what tool do people use to lift these sort of badges off the rear?

Im sure someone will be along with some tips soon enough... But for now, DON'T just put something behind it to prize it off sir as you will dent the boot quite badly pulling it off! Very sturdy badge on a thin skin of metal! Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Hairdryer at the hot setting and keep moving it along the length of the badge until it gets nice and warm, then gently ease the badge away from the bodywork. If it doesn't come away with reasonable force/ease then reheat and try again

took off my boot lettering with a toffee wheel and credit card. but as Craig said the lower tailgate i much thinner. I did take my Vogue lettering off and replace it with Titan lettering rather than brunel, used a small 6' ruler flat against the boot and slowly and gently eased it behind the letter keeping it flat against the boot to spread the pressure.

then removed the remaining glue with the toffee wheel on quite a slow setting in the drill, There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Pop it into a bodyshop whilst your passing and ask it someone wants to remove it for a tenner?

As 47p2 but use fishing line or dental floss. Travelling around in circles again.

Craig,

That's no guarantee it will go any better than doing it yourself, if they are heavy handed they'll do the same damage.

My advice is DIY, heat it up, slide a credit card behind and gradually side to side motions will start moving it, then use the toffee wheel to get rid of the glue. Discovery 4 HSE

Dental floss to cut the badge off and then soak the glue residue in either white spirit or WD 40 and wipe off.
You'll never know it was even there. Thumbs Up

carb cleaner or electrical contact is good for glue removal , small spatula like you fry eggs with is good for leverage when warm Wink _____________________________________________________
