USB file format help

Morning all,

Still playing with my new toy (can you tell I'm smitten with it?)

Just copied a load of songs from my iTunes library onto a usb stick and tried it in the USB slot (inside the centre cubby box). The stick reads ok - well the screen says reading.. but then always comes back with device error.

Is there a certain format I need to store the files in or a certain folder that they all need to be in for the system to read/play correctly..?

Thanks Ash

Have you copied the files directly to the stick or do they report into folder(s)?

The latter is worth trying as some systems look for a root folder first and then the files. 2006 4.2 SC

Apple may be a problem. I would reformat the stick via Windows. Also check how many files you have in any one folder. It may be sensitive to that.... 2006 4.2 SC

Start with FAT or preferably FAT32 format, should be readable by just about everything, if not try NTFS. But then after that it may be the folder issue thats causing the problem. .

No Joy - Windoz and Mac just don't play nicely with each other. Mac will format the drive but keeps adding the .Trashes hidden folder...

Windoz just says it can't format the drive (cos it's inferior)..!!!

never mind - I'll just have to hunt down the official iPod connector.

thx anyway Ash
