2003 vogue audio question dsp cable

Morning all just joined the forum . I ha e a 2002 model vogue which I bought with no sound or screen working

I have cleaned the connections on all and I had to run a wire to the board for the main power on the dsp as the pin was completely corroded.

I have the screen working etc now but no sound. fuse in the radio unit ok 10amp mini one and fuse 49. 8 etc

couple of question's.

1. is there a fibre cable from the dsp to the radio/sub etc as I have a port on the dsp unit but nothing connected to it ?
2, phone units been removed and has this broken the loop?
3. is there a way to loop out each component as sat nav is a bit ropey ?

I may need to face the fact the dsp is broken but I'd like to fault find a bit further and wait until I can next get on the t4 to see what that thinks
thanks in advance

cant give any other advice on yours yet, but, before you start spending good money, consider the modern android head unit upgrade at £300. look for a thread 'android upgrade' , its very well read, that removes all your vogue dsp and has all the sound stuff in front unit, at expense of a few functions of the stalk on board computer, ie mpg and the clock. (clock is in new unit of course)

There aren't any fiber optics on yours, it's too old, the DSP is canbus controlled from the head unit, the DSP is a well known problem area, I've just fitted an Android unit to a guy's 2003, he paid £300 to have his DSP fixed and it lasted 1 month past it's warranty...

As John said, consider ripping out all the old system and replacing.... cheaper, better and more reliable in the long run.... Pete

Not sure what the port is you refer to on the DSP but it only has 3 connector plugs, no fibre cable.
Is the DSP highlighted on your screen?
Is the radio or the sat nav highlighted on you screen?
All phone components if simply removed could well cause a sound loss problem.
Depending how its been removed a plug and socket could well need reconnecting.
You can just remove the satnav unit, everything else should work without it.
I presume from what you describe all the components have suffered water damage due to water ingress. Common problem I'm afraid. You need a new upper tailgate rubber seal.
You could try taking the DSP unit out of the car, remove the casing and look for water damage to the pc board, I'm pretty sure it will be evident.
Are all the pins in the 3 sockets on top of the DSP in place? they have a habit of falling off due to corrosion.
The advice above about forgetting about the units in the boot and replacing with a new android unit in the front screen is spot on and now well proven.
Bear in mind a replacement DSP unit alone will cost the same as a new android unit which does everything and more that the bits in the back can do. It's what I would now do if I had any problems.

If the units have power and identify themselves on the ibus, the text will be white on the screen. If the system used to be there, but has not identified itself, ie poss no power, the text will be grey.

Disconnecting the phone shouldn't affect anything. It should just leave a big black connector in the boot that used to go to the TCU (Telephone Control Unit). Do you mean it's been removed from the front centre console ?

Do you get the Orange power light on when you turn on the radio ?

You can loop out the units, but only to a point. I think the main feed to the front is at the TV unit. So you can pull that connector off and connect it to the sat Nav to loop out the tv, if I remember right.

As regards DSP and fibre, the really old versions in the E38 7 series used a different connection method, but the units in the FFRR are all the same and as Pete says, are canbus. That's for the bmw based non touchscreen system anyway.

Could be the connectors on the / or the BM54 radio module, as that houses the amp. 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

The Android system does seem good. I did see the thread and i will revisit that one,
does it power all the speakers ok i do like good sound?

As for my dsp it looks ok inside no water ingress there, but the pins were bad.

no DSP option on the screen not even grayed out

if no fiber that's cool, i do have a round port that looks like the antenna on the tv unit one.

I get the orange light on the dash when i put the radio on so power to that.

phone box in the boot removed and the console has been changed but the cables are there in the boot.

the only thing i would miss is the FBH timer but i could put the head unit in place of the cd changer

the round connector is the one below the plug on the left, maybe not required .
