Can't those with warm hands warm up those with a cold bottom? Shocked

Interesting - I bought my 2010MY 4 days ago and have been back to question them on it. To me they hardly heat up at all to be honest...

Thx Craig - will check the filters first to see if they are clean/clogged up. Is it still warm air that heats them though rather than an electric "under-blanket"? Ash

I'm just gonna bump this to see if I get any answers. My 2010 seems to have an intermittent fan under the drivers seat, it's quite handy that you can just stick a finger in to see if it's spinning. Has anyone else had this? Is there a fix? Does anyone have the circuit diagram - or is there one in/on TOPIX.
I'm a bit stuck - sometimes with a cold bum sometimes with a warm one! Geoff

Geoff,

I have the same problem with mine Shocked I have tried three different modules under the drivers seat but have finally isolated the problem to the seat back!

It would seem that when the seat back is lowered towards the rear all works fine but as soon as I rest my back on it the fan stops spinning and shuts down. This would imply that either my back is stopping the air from circulating or the more likely explainaition is that pressure on the seat back is expanding the probable crack in the plastic. I won't know for sure until I get round to examining it Big Cry

Ah well, I found that as I can feel the fan under my seat, the filter has fallen off again, and if it doesn't start spinning on switch on I turn it of and turn it on again - the trick seems to be to turn it on slowly.

So far I have had 100% success with this method Thumbs Up Geoff

Sometimes the turning off turning on trick doesn't work in which case I have to turn off and turn on the car (restart) after a few miles as the IIDTool pointed me in the direction of the drivers seat heater losing contact (or maybe never even making contact) with the appropriate ECU.

I think this maybe due to low battery if the seat heating is operated immediately after starting the car - maybe!

It's a pain in the ass having to stop and restart the car but its better than having a cold ass!

Oh and it works 100% so far Very Happy Geoff

I'll swap my 2003 for your 2010 if you like. My seats heat up super quick! Whistle

Supershuttle, did you get a resolution to your heated seat problem as mine has started doing the same?
Cheers

Not sure this helps but we had similar issues with a vented seat. Turned out that a pipe joint between the base and seat back had come undone. Resulting in hot air being blown over one of the hearting unit causing the unit to cut off thinking it was warmer than it actually was. As I say not sure this helps but having spent 6 months getting to this stage including replacing one of the blowers my recommendation is to dis assemble the seat and see what is going on properly. 2013 L405 AB 4.4SDV8 Luxor/Ivory, 2007 Vogue TDV8 Epson Green/Sand, 2008 Vogue TDV8 Buckingham Blue/Sand, 2003 Vogue 4.4 LPG Epsom Green/Sage, 1998 Vogue SE 4.6 LPG Epsom Green/Cream

Adam, there is a separate heater/cooler unit for both the backrest and the base... Neither of which has anything to do with the engine temps sir...

Geoff, There is an air filter for each unit (4 in total) they are changed as part of a service (can't remember which one at this time of night) So, maybe a blocked air filter?

One filter is under the front of both seats (a white foam disc filter) the other one is behind the map pocket in the backrest...

Craig
Are these the filters?
