Sat Nav voice-over

Help, please with muting a voice! When I have an active route selected on Sat Nav, and there is a traffic problem ahead on that route, the usual window comes up with the message 'Traffic conditions changed, would you like to change the route?' (or something similar). That is fine, but it is always accompanied by a voice, interrupting whatever I have on the radio, saying 'There is heavy traffic ahead'. The whole thing is repeated every five minutes or so, and if the traffic problem is a long way ahead, that means an awful lot of interruptions to my listening pleasure!

I can find no way of stopping the voice, nor can my main dealership, who advise me to turn down the volume when the announcement comes, but I never seem to get to the volume control in time.

Anyone else had this problem, and if so, how did they solve it?

Thanks.

buy a map and hand to your Missus.

give her a bag of toffees to keep her quiet between announcements.

I turn the voice off altogether. I have a reasonable sense of direction and, if in doubt, I glance at the screen.. It is generally only the last couple of miles where I need help anyway. Voice guidance dis just annoying most of the time.

Thanks, but how exactly do you turn the voice off completely, while still being able to listen to the radio? Please tell me how you do it..

Further to my last reply to Emperor Mong, the interruptions I describe are independent of the normal Sat Nav voice guidance; I never have those on for the very reason that it cuts into whatever I am listening to on the audio. So even with normal voice guidance off completely, I still get the announcement coinciding with the visual warning that traffic conditions have changed.
