Td6 gearbox oil change

Good afternoon I am thinking of changing the oil on my 04 td6 and am looking for some help the issue I have with the box is when it changes from 4th to 5th there is a jolt the rest of the box works perfect it has this jolt if I put it in sport mode manual or just leave it in d so today I thought I would check the oil level on taking out the fill plug I noticed it had red atf in there and from all the info I can find this is the wrong one as it should be golden so I was going to change it and then I looked into gearbox flush and am thinking do I get it flushed and pay top dollar or change it my self but do a double change and would this be enuff to get the red aft out and fill with correct oil also can some body tell me what the best oil is to put in as every where I have called is telling me different thanks Steve

Steveo.
The gearbox oil on a TD6 should be red. It is the Texaco Texamatic 7045E stuff you need. Don't use anything else.
If you are baulking at the 1 litre price from the dealers or anywhere else, I ordered 20 litres from these. http://www.fleetfactors.co.uk/lubricants-c...7045e-p387
Including delivery, should come out at around £83.00.
Enough to do a good flush, or with the manual change method (drain and fill twice) 2 changes.

Steve, As vaz says, don't use anything but Texaco 7045E. The gold coloured oil is for the petrol 4.4. The TD6's is red. I did a double flush but also changed the filter. Again use the genuine Filtran filter.

Just curious, I understood you had the gearbox refurbished recently? John

Hi Steveo

I'm in Essex too, may need a gearbox rebuild at some. Incidentally who were the monkeys who rebuilt yours so that I can avoid them when the time comes

Thanks Steveo

I was looking at a company in Barking that advertise on Ebay. When I did a full oil change on mine I did exactly what you have asked. The initial drain will only drain the gearbox, but old oil will remain in the TC. The only way to do it is to run it for a day or two after the first drain then drain again.
