Mine wouldn't stay shut a couple of weeks ago... turned out a pound had dropped into it while it was opened stopping it from shutting enough to lock..

I had this problem. I bought some felt pads and stuck on the side to keep it closed and recently, I've been lucky enough to have a brand new one bought for me by the owner I bought the vehicle off originally. |

Fitted the new cup holder today, they don't make it easy Took about 25 minutes so not too bad. Being extra careful not to drop screws into the transmission tunnel when taking the trim off. |
