Cupholder won't stay closed

Hi all,

I have the pop out cupholder in the passengers side of my centre cubby (prefacelift interior), and once opened it is nigh on impossible to shut again!
It feels like whatever it is supposed to latch shut on has worn down, so it now will not shut 9 times out of ten, and even then when it does catch it has a hair trigger to being opened again at the slightest touch or even a bump in the road.
This is obviously rather annoying, is there an easy way to fix it?

Thanks,
Matt NW060

Mine wouldn't stay shut a couple of weeks ago... turned out a pound had dropped into it while it was opened stopping it from shutting enough to lock..

A win win situation . Gained a pound and the cup holder stays shut Mr. Green

I had this problem. I bought some felt pads and stuck on the side to keep it closed and recently, I've been lucky enough to have a brand new one bought for me by the owner I bought the vehicle off originally.

Fitted the new cup holder today, they don't make it easy Smile Took about 25 minutes so not too bad. Being extra careful not to drop screws into the transmission tunnel when taking the trim off.
