|How to charge your iphone with the factory IPOD connection

Afternoon All,

As some of you may know your Iphone wont charge when connected to the ipod kit on the range rover. The ipod kit was designed for the original older 12v ipods. Over time Apple decided to follow the USB standard and moved to 5v. If you plug a new apple device in to a 12v charger the apple device will fail to charge to protect itself from the over voltage.

The good news is you can add an adapter to down step from 12v to 5v. This combined with the apple 30pin to lighting cable works a treat. You can get the apple short/solid adapter but it makes it hard to close the arm rest etc

The adapter in action:

Hope it helps as its a real pain when you phone cant be charged at the same time as listen to music. 2010 - Range Rover VSE 3.6 TDV8

I charge mine with a standard apple lighting usb cable in the car and then use the ipod connector to a tune2air to stream the music via bluetooth, so i CAN charge while listening to my music Smile
