Gearbox reliability.

The latest ZF8 eight speed gearboxes are perceived as more reliable than the earlier ZF5 and ZF6 gearboxes, why is this?

Is it mainly because it is a new box that takes time for the problems to surface, or does it differ radically in design from the previous gearbox designs?

new tech always seems to be better designed but as for the reliability of the ZF8 box ,thats to be seen as its only about 4 years old so time will tell... ... - .- -.
