Digital TV Upgrade - Problem

Hi all,

I've purchased a digital tv unit from Baris at Carphonics (who I know a few of you have used). I've plugged it in but am having problems getting it to work on my rear screens.

I suspect it's because the previous owner has added in a PS2 at some point, and a DVD player. It appears as though they have re-wired the TV loom to get this to work.

Basically, instead of the white plug being plugged in to the original TV unit, a black one was in there. When I plugged this in to the new unit, the picture was very fuzzy (front and back screens) and didn't really work properly. A white plug was plugged in to something else, which I unplugged, and put into the TV unit. Hey presto - front screen worked perfectly. The back screens, however, were blank.

Does anyone have a picture of an un-modded white TV plug that I can see, to work out where the cables should go?

One option is to plug the old black plug into the bit that the white one was originally in (see second picture below). But I'm a bit nervous about doing that in case something blows!

Have added some pictures of the plugs in question in case that helps.

I should add that I am not interested in the PS2 connection, although would like to keep the DVD player if possible.

Thanks,

Amy

Best bet is to download the workshop manual from the WIKI and check the colours of the wires against the electrical diagram, it shows which colour wire goes into which number within the plugs...

Looks like someone has changed the wiring into the white plug, those fat wires look like their covered in heat shrink, that's not standard... Pete

Thanks very much - I've had a look but can't seem to find anything...but I might be looking in the wrong place.

This was on the net. Seems to cover both plugs......

When looking on the net, it's sometimes better to search for BMW info, as there is more about.....
