Australia 2008 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Atacama Sand
Anyone used Revive Turbo Cleaner

My tdv8's fuel economy had dropped off since I bought it 6 months ago, and the tacho started bouncing (engine surging) at idle. It was also dropping a bit of smoke out the back. It really noticed the exhaust when I went to clean the car and found a fair bit of soot on the rear mudflaps. My 08MY RRV has done 240,ooo km, and previously went very well.

I took it the RRV to my independent mechanic to discuss these issues. He suggested the intake, turbo and EGR may be a bit coked up, and to treat the motor with Revive Turbo/Engine Cleaner. I agreed to give it a try. I was pretty happy with its performance before. However, now the RRV is noticeably more powerful and has smoother acceleration (I would lose my licence if I had a 4.4 tdv8). It previously had a little turbo lag, which was quite subtle and didn't bother me at all. The lag has disappeared. Ive only driven it for about 20km so I don't know the impact on fuel economy, but the taco bouncing has gone.

Has anyone used this product? Website below.

Seeing as ERG's are an ongoing problem in 3.6 TDV8's this sounds like a good preventative measure . As for 4.4 loosing your licence Big Cry you could lose your licence with a bloody donkey cart here Evil or Very Mad 2008 MY Supercharged

I used something similar on an old Volvo, it's basically just a massive can of EGR cleaner. It did seem to make a difference afterwards, it certainly didn't do it any harm.

Terra-Clean?

On the same subject, has anyone had their engine internals cleaned using the Terra-Clean decarbonisation process, as used by Edd China on last night's XK8 Wheeler Dealers show (on Quest)? There's a company in Sheffield claiming to do this process for diesels and their website has an FFRR hooked up to the machine:

http://www.remappingsheffield.co.uk/servic...arbonizer/

The results on the XK8 in terms on CO2 and hydrocarbons ppm were very good, but it was in TV!

Btw I've no affiliation to Terra-Clean, just interested in hearing people's experiences.

EDIT: I see there is already a thread on this process here http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic11748.html, but I'm still interested in any other experiences. I might get my TDV8 done if it's worth doing.

Cheerio, fanders
