2007 TDv8

Just bought a late 2007 TDv8. Anything specific I should be looking out for or replacing?
Also what is with the odd wheel arch corrosion they all have inside the arch?
Lastly where is the best place to buy a supercharged grill at reasonable cost? Replicas OK?

Welcome Very Happy
I don't know the answers to the last two questions. As for what to look out for, it's new to you, so check all the fluids and replace those that don't look pristine. Check the battery and alternator are good. 99% of weird stuff can be blamed on the battery, alternator or both. Also, check the turbo and its hoses. Mines not a turbo, but split hoses can cause grief. Bad turbo can damage the engine, so it's wise to give it the once over.

AND ENJOY. Thumbs Up

Are you talkling about the the corrosion at the front of the arch, where the door closes over ?? If it is then I would say it cos of crud getting caught between the arch and the wheel liner and just sitting there as a moisture trap. Also with the door rubber closing over that area on the outside, it will scratch the surface of the paint, due to the crud that gets thrown up from the road, when the doors are opened/closed. Again sealing moisture in.

Have a search on here, there are loads of bits and bobs to do in terms of preventative maintenance.

The big stuff is:
Repair the rear arches
Check the upper tailgate for rust
Gearbox service
Diff oils if not done
Transfer box oils if not done

Check age of battery
Check charging voltage of alternator (they fail with regularity at about 70-80k)

Check condition of front arms and ball joints
The top hoses from the intercooler to the throttle body fail also. These are cheap and easy to replace with a screwdriver, so worth doing if they look original.

Check the condition of the brakes, rear calipers can tend to seize, which can be checked by comparing the temperatures of the rear discs after a run, allow to stand for a few mins and see if one disc/wheel is hotter than the other!
The fronts are more reliable caliper wise but they also can start to leak from the dust seals but can be refurbished easily enough.

The non genuine sc grilles are ok from a distance but the centres tend to be painted not shiny like the original, but the plastics are ok and the fit tends to be acceptable.

Other than that, welcome to Ffrr ownership, if you keep on top of it they are reliable cars, it's all about preventative maintenance and good regular servicing, with the correct fluids. Engine oils should be WSS-MCC913-b and the transfer box and diffs are also specialist oils. See the wiki for details. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
