Another key problem

Hi all,

Looks like lots of us have key related issues this month. I've just returned to my car after a month away to find that the cars battery was completely flat. Luckily it was unlocked as my key fob refuses to function at all. A few points to note, the car was started using jump leads powered by my trusty golf gti (7 years ownership and the only fault had been a coil pack might I add!!) so it took a few failed attempts to start. Also the central locking button does not work, neither do the convenience lights when I open the door / take the key from the ignition. Finally, I have tried to sync the key for two days now without success using the method commonly posted here. Also performed a battery disconnect (yet to find something that actually fixes) and driving the thing.

If anyone has any other suggestions then I'm all ears. Failing that I'll either leave the car unlocked until someone does me the favour of stealing it, or locate my local Indy auto locksmith.

Thanks in advance Thumbs Up

All joking aside, have I covered all avenues before I book the car in tomorrow?

Hello Stevey,
Your car is in "transport mode". Common thing to happen when battery goes flat.
Get someone to turn it off with IIDTool or similar.

Really? That's a new one to me but certainly would make a lot of sense.

I will get this checked out and report back, thanks for the reply!

Just a quick follow up, mainly for others when they do a search.

I can confirm the car had put itself into transport mode, this was disabled and everything now functions as should (alarm, central locking, convenience pack, door lock on dash). It's cost £40 for diagnostics and that's a lot for 3 mins work but I'm glad that it wasnt anything more serious such as faulty BCM unit.

Note to self: buy IID tool ASAP.

Thanks to "docjones" for the reply Thumbs Up
