Engine system fault

Ive had a read on the various section and I'm seeing split turbo hose, but as anyone got anything to add from experience.

On a long run today , stopped for about an hour
and when I got going again I got the engine system fault message and car went into limp mode, message went away but car stayed in limp, engine turned off and then back on again and everything was back to normal, power seems as norm , no visable smoke. Only thing I can say is that the engine noise or the turbo noise on the right side sounds a bit noiser than normal when accelerating , but might be my imagination .

battery is good and strong , any ideas ? would a fault reader give a better idea ?

Take the top hoses off, first and easiest place to start. Might not get a lot of smoke, and the fault resets when you turn it off....

They come off with a screwdriver! Check the passenger side one under the webbing. Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Viper what is the mileage? My experience with this unfortunately is I have a 112000 mile tdv8 with a sticky egr valve that pings up the engine system fault during hard acceleration. This is cleared if you turn off and on the ignition. I haven't checked the turbo hoses but just yesterday had a mobile chappie put his diagnostic machine on which showed one valve open at 12% which was imbalanced to the other. Like northern says check the pipes first as it's well cheaper. Do you get a groaning noise on the right?

mileage is 83k, cant say I can hear a groaning noise. I will get the hoses checked first, how does one check for a sticking valve

With a diagnostic tool, it can measure the amount that the valves are open and see if one sticks open slightly.

10 min job to check the hose on the drive, honestly, no skills required. If you can undo a couple of jubilee clips then you are sorted Thumbs Up nothing to drain or move out of the way really.

Fixed mine on a caravan site in Dover with a screwdriver and some tape. Thumbs Up There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

50mm split in driver side hose , underneath right near the front jubilee clip , clue was some blown oil residue on the coolant expansion bottle. Looking at about 40 beer tokens for a genuine one

thanks guys Thumbs Up

There is a post about a silicone house set on here from a UK manufacturer. Maybe worth investing in the house set that is supposedly much sturdier and more durable.

Have the Faultmate MSV2 Extreme to be tinkering with the settings etc. !!
