2015 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Aruba
Back to a Range Rover

3 years ago, I sold the RR for a freelander. Lots of reasons and still think it was the right car for the time, however, I always missed the RR. Even the wife was commenting on how we were out-growing the FL2 and a RR would be better.

After a lot of thinking out loud, decided a petrol was the way to go. Couldn't face the constant 'what if' of the turbos, EGR's, and hoses that the TDV8 would give me. ( I know the petrol has sometypical issues too )

So last week, I picked up 2008 4.2 SC in silver. Has been well looked after and no mechanical issues I could find. Its had the 2010 conversion done. Physically good, but the electrics on the headlights need tinkering with to get right. The main head lights come on all the time with the ignition ( even with the switch off ), rather than the twinkle lights.

Enjoying the drive so far. Seems to be about 18 to 20mpg out of it. For the all the power, i'm finding it more enjoyable to drive sedately rather than hooning it around all the time.

Expect more questions from me to appear over time now ! Mr. Green V8 or else ...

On the point of mirror tops, I think I'll actually leave them black. I know it may not be authentic, but I think the black tops make the mirrors hide into the black window line between the body and roof.

Compared to silver tops pictured where you really notice the mirror contrasting against the darker windows.

Had a bit more of a look around it, and the light issue is bugging me. I cant understand why it would be wired up that way. The car completely thinks the lights are on when the engine is running but the light switch is set to off. Even to the point that the light symbol comes up on the instrument cluster and all the interior switch lights are on. V8 or else ...

The headlights will be to do with the CCF's sir.. Someone has programmed the headlights to be DRL's.. You'll need an IID to change that setting.. Thumbs Up
