Also worth remembering that LR did start fitting a AGM battery to later models with the FBH. It wasn't cheap though, somewhere in the region of 400 quid. That was why I bought the AGM one from Varta as they can stand a lot more of the load which takes place in winter.

All those CCA and AH figures are only relevant if the battery is in good condition and a regular lead/acid one will deteriorate rapidly with constantly being discharged beyond what a normal start takes out. AGM are designed for deep cycling so they stay in good condition for longer. Not only that, they still deliver full CCA when they're discharged as far down as 30% of capacity, i.e. you can still start the car when a lead/acid unit would be considered flat.

Weirdly the 110ah which can be specified in the earlier cars (ydg000271) has a lower CCA rating too at 850amps. Probably because it was designed to be used in the petrol V8 and td6, it is an 020 size battery so the physically same size as the Bosch and varta ones. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
