Rearview mirror mount for dashcam

Anyone found a rearview mirror mount for a dashcam to fit the 2010MY?

I bought a G1WH, which I love, but, 6 months and 2-3 different failed suction/tape mounts later, I'm looking for a rearview mirror mount that will fit the extremely short rearview mirror stem - and failing miserably! My latest purchase of an Armotek Snakemount is still too wide to fit the narrow (& 8mm) gap behind the mirror.

There must be something out there that can be re-purposed to this end - surely??

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Can you not screw something to the black plastic rear view mirror cover? When you sell the car, simply buy a new piece of trim! Cant cost too much!

Thanks, Craig. I was hoping that someone would have already solved this problem, but I might well end up going down that route.

The WM isn't that helpful/detailed, though I was wondering if there might be any way of lengthening the horizontal stem even by an inch? If not, I'll have to look at securing it to the rear of the mirror/clamping it over the mirror in some way.

I've tried a few things, Alistair, but none have worked and of course the alarm goes off when it falls off the windscreen, hence my determination to go for a mirror bracket of some kind!

Any and all thoughts welcome!

I do wish I could agree - tried it but it only lasted 3-4 days, hence trying to move on to a mirror bracket.

I'll need to look further to find something that can be re-purposed and that will fit and grip the @8mm gap. There must be something ...

Confused

I tried all sorts of stuff including car mirror pads & superglue - the No More Nails tape is the only thing that worked for me

Another +1 for me on the 3M sticky pads/tape - I use it for the Go-Pro mounts on the bike and motorbike helmets as well.

But the G1WH is a different design hanging down from a suction mounts rather than my Blackvue which is stuck directly onto the windscreen using the sticky pads. I can see why you are having problems with getting it to stick to the windscreen given it hangs below the mount and will be always applying a downward force on the sucker.

Only idea I can come up with is if you tried to invert it so the suction mount is below the camera, like a phone mount on the windscreen - but I doubt that will help and would rely on being able to change the orientation on the lens. So suspect I haven't helped at all! Current Fleet:-

You can just use a UV flashlight to cure LOCA glue, they are very cheap on amazon. Here is more info on http://vkrepair.com/loca-glue/

I think you're either using the wrong type of sticky pads or you're not cleaning the glass well enough before applying it, ie with alcohol or thinners - any oil, tar, silicone or wax on there and it just wont last. A lot of rear view mirrors are just stuck on with double sided tape and last the life of the car. It really needs to be automotive sticky pads, as a lot of the home DIY type ones can;t cope with the temperature range.
