Autobiography 4.4 TDV8 90k miles or Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8 54k m

I have identified a couple of cars that i would happily drive. The VSE is a nice spec 2 owner 2011 vehicle and the Autobiography is bells and whistles spec wise with one owner 2012 vehicle.

Both cars are the same colour inside and out and both appear to be in equivalent condition from what i can tell. Both have full main dealer service history. Both have the Autobiography front and rear styling although i'm not sure exactly what it is called. Both vehicles are the same price.

My dilemma is the mileage of the Autobiography at 90k....

I will not be driving any more than 6/7k per year in the car so the high number is not too much of a concern for me but i would welcome any advice regarding potential worries or repairs that tend to be required around this number of miles.

Cheers

Steve

Wish I had that dilemma. Smile
I'm a sucker for toys so would probably opt for the AB.

Then again with that annual mileage a jag 4.4 or 4.2SC.

Now there's a dilemma. Whistle Wink

Lower mileage one would win it out if your thinking about residuals in a few years time as it will still be under 100k. also a warranty is slightly harder to gain when past 100k which you'll want when it falls out of the dealers warranty.

If you could knock £2-3k off the AB then it would work out about right over 3-5years and having all the toys and being an AB will help keep the used price up.

Which one did you like the most though? FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

The Autobiography was the first one i had identified as fitting the bill....although even before seeing the VSE with lower miles my concerns were with any mechanical issues that may arise with higher miles on the TDV8.

I have tried to find any info on the site that might indicate potential issues at circa 100k miles but have not managed to see anything of significance.

TBH on 100k miles the only things to think about will be suspension bushes. on a 2012 with that mileage its been on the road a fair bit and you cant imagine doing 30k a year on mostly b road's so it should be mostly ok but budget for front and rear bushes just in case, though probably not needed.

Another thing would be air suspension compressor as its probably been used a fair bit more being on the road a lot and they dont half get hot when working.

Goes without saying that both are due to have GB/TC, front and rear diff fluid changes, as well as coolant and brake fluid which is unlikely to have been done even at main dealers following the schedule...

EGR's and DPF's, although the higher mile one is likely to be less trouble in this respect if its been doing a lot of long trips staying nice and hot and keeping both items in reasonable flushed states, they both suffer more from shorter journeys. FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

Having just bought (a month ago) the 4.4 TDV8 Vogue, can I proffer a few points?
Mine has only covered 77k and is a MY11. Currently it resides in a garage as it has suffered DPF failure. Before buying either RR, get the codes checked. I didn't know this could be done and there was a list of fault codes. Worth checking.
I don't regret my purchase, I love the drive, the smile it puts on my face every time I drive it, but I regret my naive checking. It will be costly for me, but if you check thoroughly first you might avoid the pitfall I'm in. You will love either one! But you will need to stretch the legs of the 4.4 TDV8 on a regular basis to prevent the DPF from sooting up on those short slow journeys Thumbs Up

....oh..... And forgot to add, budget in the higher Octane Diesel at the pumps rather than the regular diesel, as it helps the engine burn cleaner helping the DPF too. Thumbs Up (I've picked all this up to late! Rolling with laughter )

Hi Martin

Really appreciate your post and feedback re the 4.4 TDV8 .....

My low mile use of the car will be due to the fact i am not in the UK all year long however when home the car will be used for fairly lengthy journeys which include regular motorway runs.I will take heed your advice and have each of the vehicles checked out by Landcover at my cost before agreeing any purchase.

Steve

I know there are a few members from Scotland on the forum and i was wondering if any of you know this car dealer?

http://www.expresswaycars.co.uk/used-cars/...0248123403

Looks like they have a car that is similar to what i am looking for and wondered what sort of reputation these people have before considering if it is worthwhile driving up to take a look.

Cheers

Steve
