Glove Box

Does anyone know how to open the lower glove on a MY07. Was replacing the headlamp wash fuse last week and the button was working fine, now it is only opening the top box. Are both catches electric or mechanical?
Is there any way of getting it open??? Sad Surprised

Joking aside the lens from the internal light on the glove box kid came adrift and dropped into the glove box cavity, anybody know a simple way to get the thing out without taking the whole thing apart ? Many thanks
Paul
