United Kingdom 2009 Range Rover SE TDV8 Stornoway Grey
Front brakes binding

Anyone else had a sticking calliper- if so, what are they like to repair? I drove a short distance last night and the car felt strange, like a jerky motion when in drive. When I stopped, there was smoke pouring from the o/s/f wheel and it was red hot to touch ( couldn't even touch it to be honest). Managed to limp home using manual gears and slow speed.

I've had sticky callers on customers cars in the past but never on my own or on the ffrr.

Thanks

They're not too bad to do if your reasonably handy. Seal kits are available on eBay for around £15 ish. Recon caliper about £85. I did the seals on my 2004 TD6 after having the same problem. If you have a compressor and blow gun you can use it to blow the piston out once the caliper is removed. Just be wary of fluid splash though, eyes and paintwork Mr. Green once stripped I cleaned the piston and bore with some 1600 wet & dry then rebuilt & bled. I monitored for awhile but all was fine for the three years I owned it.
