Whistling brakes. Grease em up?

The brakes have started whistling in the last 6 weeks. Could be the colder weather?

New genuine LR brake pads fitted last June and never a peep until now. Strange.

Will grease them and see if that resolves it.

Mine did it for a while a few thousand miles after fitting them. Then just stopped.

A dab of grease would t hurt, but use the ceramic stuff not copper as it's supposed to be better for abs systems.....apparently There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜œ

whistling brakes are happy brakes... Mr. Green

strip down and clean, could be grit or excess brake dust and as you suggest ryan, grease them up....i know pam drives it mostly so please resist putting the grease on the side that goes onto the disc.. Laughing Wink ... - .- -.

I'd have thought that putting grease on your brakes was not a good plan if you want to stop quickly Whistle

Well, the 6 pot brembos are a bit different to the 4 pot brembos that were on the SC. There's a bolt bar type thingy in the middle, additional to the 2 standard pins. That momentarily flummoxed me when trying to slide out the pads after removing the 2 pins Laughing

The pads were Jurid and they seemed massive. Only did one side today as tome was against me Whistle

They are big! But fundamentally the same. I presume the big bolt through the caliper is to stop them spreading when you brake. Thumbs Up

I'm pretty sure Jurid are part of Honeywell along with bendix and are oem suppliers to a lot of manufacturers. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜œ
