Oil filter question

Hi changed my oil today in my me v8
My question is in the box with the paper filter was along with the rubber gasket was a little copper washer like the sump plug one
Is that what it is for thanks for any advice

Being as how it is always recommended to replace the plug washer after draining, I would guess that your assumption is correct. No longer FF owner but still interested. Present car Jaguar XE

Yes it is for the sump plug, not all filters come with it though and it often gets missed. Got enemies? Good, you have stood up for something in your life.

Thanks didn't think it went in the filter housing but just needed a second opinion as I thought I may have overlooked something
