New timing chain?

Does anyone know how many hours it takes to change the timing chain in a 5.0 S/C?

My FFRR is a 2010 MY, and I understand there is an upgraded version of the timing chain? Range Rover SV Autobiography LWB 5.0 S/C -17

Why do you need to change the timing chain - they are pretty much bullet proof?

On the 5.0 there was a TSB as Stan says.

If the owner reports a rattling from the front of the engine then LR will change the chain. It's a massive job and I'm not sure it's one I'd trust any of our local dealers with tbh.

I think it's more to do with the tensioner rather then the chain but I might be wrong.

There was a problem with the old 4.2 plastic tensioners, but it was rectified with aluminium ones. I know - I'e stripped one. But I'm sure its well sorted and I don't know of a problem with the 5.0?

I'm interested if there is a TSB?

Stupid question , but if a 5.0 litre 2011 model is bought and is out of warranty will LR still fix this if the fault occurs or is it only warranty vehicles it applies to

Its not a recall, so customer would pay unless under warranty i would have thought.

Looking at my part movement, doesn't look like we've ever had to do the job before. You can paypal direct using - www.paypal.me/duckworthparts

So.

The cars throws a P0016-00.

My dealer bought a new sensor, but it still shows the same error.

I guess I'll get the verdict later today Sad

I vaguely remember reading on here that RRUK has had this issue within 5.0 and had the timing chains done on his at the dealer under warranty.

My 2011 SC rattled liked a diesel when I purchased it in Aug 2014. The dealer did the chain tensioner update kit then replaced the SC snout and.....hey! it still rattles just like a diesel!! Fine when on the road but driving around town, I just slap a diesel emblem over the SC emblem.
