I can add to this thread, I have a 08 TDV8 full service history, 238000 miles usual wear and tear, sweet as a nut

Very interested to hear this. Can you be a bit more specific about what constitutes 'usual wear and tear'? ie just oil changes, brakes etc or do you include in that new turbos, EGRs, engine etc? Very Happy

Needed EGR valve when I first brought it throw a code but drove fine, just had both of them done, advised on the water pump which has now been changed, upgraded the battery, and I'm touching wood as I am saying this, has never let me down in 2 years, everything works including remote heat and cool, the only thing I haven't done to be fair is the rear washer is not working but the wiper is fine, it's also been chipped, no sign of smoke or noise and flew through the last 2 MOTs

Jinxed it Crying or Very sad

Garage just called - not only the fuel pump but one of the turbo's as well.

Recommended both done at once (heard that before) - all in, including a service, just over £5k

That's a challenge to justify on a £7k car

Is it really a £7k car? Could you find a comparable alternative vehicle for the same price? One way of looking at it? £12k maybe but I'd say better the devil you know.

There justified it for you Whistle Ed

Agree

Thumbs Up

I actually liked my 3.6 and would have run it forever if I didn't like the more modern look of the 405. In fact I think the 405 is the best looking 4x4 on the planet without anything coming close to the 322

There

Justified!!

Thumbs Up

Oh. And I think my 3.6 was just about "run in" at 100,000 when I sold it as it was running sweet as a nut and returning good mpg so my buyer got a right result.
I'm in touch with him so we shall see how it goes

Lol, thanks guys Very Happy

Think we've decided on recon the turbo - has the same warranty as a new one from LR but is about 1/3 the price

That must be a record! That's taxi mileage!

Anyone beat that?

A guy on anoh=ther forum i am on says he has the 3.6 and it he lives in oz and has done 640,000kms, and replaced the injectors at 400,000. obviously lets the turbo spool down and does extra oil changes
