Payment sent, thanks!

Can I just check that the arms will fit over the existing aluminium ridged flats fitted to the spindles? I had to return a pair that seemed identical apart from a completely different way of securing arm to spindle.

Cheers
David

Hi Dan

The arms sent are the same as the ones I had before (and thought were wrong). There has obviously been a change in the way they are fixed. Could you tell me how much more I need to buy to sort this?

The old arm looks like this (sorry about my phone camera's bad focus) :-

That fits on a square ish billet pressed onto the spindle, like so :-

The new arm has a totally different design :-

Do I need replacement (different) aluminium billets to go behind the new arms, or has more changed?

Cheers
David

I think you will find that the piece stuck on your original wiper fitting on the FF is already on the new arm, it will be partially stuck on due to the paint, it should come off with some persuasion and then you can change the one on the FF, if you can get it off as they usually corrode on and need a puller, or discard it and bolt the new arm to the old fitting....

Put some grease on it to help it come off again, don't use copperslip as it's alloy.... Thumbs Up Pete

Thanks for that. The new one is definitely a single assembly, but I recon you might be right that the new arm replaces the old two piece fitting method. Hope Dan can confirm - I'll then get a puller to the old billet next weekend.

Oh right, they have changed them then...... good luck getting them off, needed a large puller, tightened it until it was maxed out then had to hit it with a club hammer 1/2 dozen times to get mine off, they really do stick on well.... Thumbs Up Pete

Just for reference to those who are replacing their rusty arms. The new ones do fit straight over the spindles with no adapters. A 3 legged puller removed the passenger side aluminium billet with a bang - but no space to fit it driver's side. My 2 legged puller wasn't man enough so will try again with a better one when it arrives.

Job 50% done. Normal for my fettling weekend.

Sorry to hijack. But can the billet pieces be re-positioned?

Reason I ask is I can't seem to align the wipers correctly to sit on the black strip when at rest, so think if I could spin the billet piece a little then I would get the movement I need.

Cheers
