Towing Weight for a TD6

Hi all

I have searched but tying myself up in knots. Standard 3.0 TD6 2004 Range Rover. (presuming its empty of people and rubbish) ,, does anyone know off the top of thier head what weight trailer it can legally tow?

Im looking at starting a Mobile Bar in an old Rice 2 horse twin wheel trailer, and trying to work out how much weight i have to play with including trailer and stock, fittings.

Many Thanks

Cheers so much guys

So in theory, fully loaded, providing the trailer and all contents weighs in under 3500kg I have nothing to worry about?

Thanks so much!!

Yep,

3500kg, 150kg nose weight on the tow hitch.

Watch your Gross train weight, as well, though the RR takes this into account and you can fully load the car to its MGW and still put 3500kg on the back I think👍 There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Have a search on here for the thread about TD6 towing portable lavatories weighing close to the limit - the car is rated to do it but there probably isn't much in reserve at that weight so the gearbox can suffer. Only Range Rovers since 1988

I have been towing a horse trailer (c.1000KG) with 2 warmbloods (c. 1400KG) for about 10 years in a 2004 TD6 with no issues, cant see your stuff weighing more than the 2 horses? Thumbs Up

The person I was thinking of is Miggit and the thread is something like Gearbox D'oh. Only Range Rovers since 1988

Will have a look for the post. Thanks so much guys.

Rosco, I'm looking at a 2 horse Rice trailer. Silly question but empty, how manoverable are they by hand with a few of you? Just thinking incase I have to man handle it into a barn or something? Accept, some days your the pigeon, some days your the statue!

Gearbox thread - but most of the issue was a botched first fix.....

Twin axle trailers are a PITA to move by hand - I have an Ifor Williams flatbed & that's hard enough in anything but a straight line on smooth tarmac..... you can do it, but you wouldn't want to make a habit out of it

You could always get a motormover for it if you really wanted maybe even second hand.

Twin axles are very manoeuvrable into tight spaces on the back of the FF, harder with a box on mind but could always use venture cam or assistant Smile

They cope well but change down for steeper hills before it does and sticking to 55 helps lock the TC and clutches up iirc as at 50 it doesnt. A gearbox remap may help with this as well if your doing it every weekend with the beasts as its not just them and trailer weight but youll have some food and water and tack with you which could easily be another 100kg maybe more depending on spares and hay bales and all Smile FFRR MY06 facelift With TDV8 Alloys Zeros/ATR's

I find it very easy on hard ground with a couple of you as you have the grab hamdles at a good height on the front, soft ground/chips etc not easy Thumbs Up
