Thanks for the hartge idea but I think that's a bit beyond my finances!

I messaged the ebay seller of the Direnza system, saying:

Hello,
I'm interested in this system but can you confirm it is genuine Direnza? It is £200 cheaper than from their website and you have listed it for V8 diesel models where as they list it for 2002-12 V8 petrol (I need it for a V8 petrol).
Thanks,
Matt

They replied with:

Hi there,
Yes they are genuine direnza parts and there are for the v8 vogue,
Kind regards

So, based on that I think I will pull the trigger on it, as if they turn out not to work then I have them over a barrel for evidence. NW060

Ordinarily I would just remove my cats altogether, but the new MOT rules over here prevent that now Evil or Very Mad

depending on how handy you are with spanners you could always get the cats cut out and flanges welded and also have two straight through pipes made so come MOT time you swap them over or just replace them with a 200 cell cats L322 2008 vogue

Well, it's arrived and it's good news. Yes, it does look exactly like the pictures on the Direnza site. and yes it does have a cat inside it when I checked with a torch.

Now to get it fitted when I'm home from uni for the winter! ON the subject of which, they appear to be handed - the front lambda sensor port is further around the tube on one side, and the trail ends are cranked by different amounts. I presume it will be obvious by inspection which side fits which? NW060

Ok, having finally had them fitted before the MOT on Wednesday, it appears that there are a few slight issues.

Number one, replacement lambda sensors will almost certainly be needed. Their thread sticks down into the exhaust flow causing the end few turns to fur up with rust, meaning they simply won't come out of the old pipe without destroying them. the magician mechanic at my garage managed to save 3 out of 4 but had to give up on one. Bosch replacements are £70 each......

Number two - the new pipe is a different, slightly larger diameter to the existing pipe, and the clamps are larger again! They absolutely will NOT seal. The garage had to order in 2 different clamps, and due to the different pipe diameters it is still a bit of a fudge that involves a lot of exhaust sealant.

It blows a little when cold from the joint but after 2 minutes or so seals ok, and once warm and sealed the silence is uncanny after being used to the faint phut-phut of the cracked old cats.

On a positive note, the mechanic did say that the cats themselves look to be extremely good and very well made.

I think that if it doesnt coke up and seal the joint when cold, i may get an adaptor piece fabbed up, but other than that I suppose I can't grumble for £200 quid net (ie once the scrap price the old ones should fetch has been factored in) NW060

These might do the job... Commercial flexi exhaust clamps... they are designed to seal up on 2 different size pipes, I'm fairly sure that TTC (Truck and Trailer Commercial) do them, and most truck spares places deal with them Thumbs Up
