4.4 TDV8 rpms in decelaration

Gents,

haven't driven my 4.4 TDV8 for a while, picked it from service and now I'm wondering if the following behaviour is normal:

when I decelerate (don't press the gas pedal or just brake) I see that the RPMs arrow goes down and kinda fluctuates, goes up and then down again multiple times.

For example there's this pattern happening when braking from 60 km/h to 10 km/h
1) 2000 rpm
2) I press the brake
3) goes down to 1000 rpm
4) up to 1300
5) down 900 rpm

It seems to me that previously RPMs were simply going down straight without bouncing.

Your comments?

Cheers Bow down Santorini Black RR Vogue 4.4 TDV8

Sounds like the box preselected gears as you are decelerating.

Hard to say without seeing it but if you are breaking sharply it will probably try and select a lower gear to help with the deceleration. If its been for a service they may have reset the adaptations or they might have done a gearbox software update etc? 2005 E60 M5

quavey, could be they resetted something as I had some issues with the gears indicators blinking and asked them to check. Will try to make a video.

Any advice on how to re-adapt the gearbox? Santorini Black RR Vogue 4.4 TDV8

It should learn your driving style as you drive along if they have reset the adaptations, it will take a few miles etc. 2005 E60 M5

If you're saying RPMs, how many minutes?
