Well my service agent has replaced the fuel rail sensor and asked me to give it a try hoping that the faults dont show again. 36 hours is how long it lasted. Idle is good, so they sorted that, so far. But driving to work this morning with a slight smile and content feeling that they just might have sorted it and 'ding ding' Engine Fault etc etc etc.

What now?

(I am waiting for the fault codes, but I am told they all point to the fuel pressure error) Steve B

As per Thrasher - ABS sensor? Have a good visual check of the wires adn try taking the wheels off as well?

My 4.4 V8 petrol was like yours - came out of the blue. Lost all power at one point whilst driving along!! Engine lights, HDC, gearbox, you name it. lights came and went at different times although the car ran perfect. After changing my wheel adn dropping it slightly too quickly off the ramp, it hasn't flickered. All lights as per normal.

I have been asked by my service engineer if he can have my FFRR for a week or so, so that he can set up a laptop and monitor the engine hoping for the fault to reoccur whilst being monitored. Sounds like a good idea. Anyone else had to do this. Since they changed the fuel rail sensor the fault warning problem has only happened once.

Still driving like a dream at all other times, at all speeds, day or night, hot or cold, although the idle did cough once on the drive home tonight. Steve B

Take Piecost's advice, and take it to ACL, not RCV, when I heard what they said when you took it in it was clear they wouldn't fix it, just change some parts and cross fingers!

Time to try a different garage, nothing against RCV, I don't know them, but it really sounds like they're out of ideas when it comes to your issue. Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

Wow had just over a week of trouble free driving, no faults, smooth idle and basically a great
rr to be in and then............Well the faults are still there. Just came home and whle driving along crusing double bing and fault warnings cascade again and get you home speed engaged. turn off restart all gone.

Reason for my post is that this time the first fault warning was HDC FAULT SYSTEM NOT AVAILABLE and then after three seconds or so the ENGINE FAULT , SUSPENSION LOWERED, TRANSMISSION FAULT LIMITED GEARS, PARK BRAKE FAULT all came up.

So does the HDC fault coming up first mean that it is something else? Steve B

The News Is GOOD.

Dropped my limping FFRR into AHL Engineering this morning at nine, by lunch time Angus was on the phone found the problem.

Turns out my problem was that one of the previous owners had fitted a Revere Plug in Power Module that interupts the signals from the diesel system for a 70bhp boost. He has stripped this unofficial Censored out and the car is driving like never before. He has also installed new up to date software as a precaution. All for less than £175 + vat.

Previous service agent has cost me nearly £2k and then advised I sold the car cos it was a dog.

Find a review site and give some honest feedback on the other place. They've got a good reputation, and it sounds like they've done little in your case to show that reputation is warranted! Thumbs Up Range Rover-less at the moment - Pining!

Pleased you got there in the end ( an expensive "journey" !!)

Worth adding this type of problem/mod to any buying checklist as a few owners on the forum have had problems with previously chipped TD6's. Odd, as most sellers would advertise this as a selling point Wink .

Yes it is great to finally enjoy my RR. She is driving like a new car. Still can not believe the other service agent could not see the faulty chip mod unit as when it was shown to me (with all the engine covers removed, which is the way they must have seen it) it sticks out as not a landrover part. I guess they relied on their diag computer too much and not good old mechanics. Evil or Very Mad

The guy from AHL Enginering found it in a couple of hours which included the updating of the software of the car, being a very early TDV8 (Oct 2006), checking all the fuel controls and trying to sort out a problem with the spare tyre pressure sensor (keeps stating low pressure, but its fine?) Another simple reason for this painful disfunction
Dear all,

I'm new here. I have a LR3 4.4 V8 HSE and yesterday I get mad with the same problem. Yesterday night I have checked on your forum, it is very helpful THANK YOU TO ALL !!!!


The difference I had, it was even if I tried to turn off and turn on again the engin, nothing was different... still same problem. Even sometimes, impossible to turn on the engine.... like this afternoon. (To let you imagine I'm living in Africa and after 30 seconds, 20 peoples were around to ask me if I need help and the crowd was getting bigger and bigger because a white men stuck with "a president car" that's the NEWS !!!! Rolling with laughter

I have made some checks and I have found that a fuse blowed up (in the engin box). It was the fuse for the brake servo (N°24 20Amp). At the same time I have seen two wires disconnected just behind this fuse box (I will try to put a picture tomorrow) also I connect them again.

I turn on the engine and...... same... Big Cry

I check and the fuse blowed up again.... also I decided to put in plave a 30amp fuse and not a 20 amp Whistle .
Here no way to find someone who knows Land Rover also... we have to try. Mr. Green

I turn on the engine and it works, but still the orange lamp ECU of the engine, why
Also I tried to unplug the two wires that I plugged previously and miracle, everything works perfectly

Incredible how a fuse can affect a Land Rover... it's a big beast but also very sensitive in his heart

Now my question, is it really risky to put for the servo brake a 30 amp fuse instead of the 20amp?
Someone can tell me why the two wires are disconnescted ?

Same Problem

Hi Guys

Hope you are all well and enjoying your RR.

I am getting the engine system fault. I restart the car and all is good for a few miles. I have had the car for 3 days and it is my 1st RR.

Does anyone know of a good specialist in the West Midlands. I am based in Dudley.
