EGR blank or delete?

So being a bit dim here but what are the pros and cons of either just blanking the EGR or fitting one of the delete kits you see advertised? And any recommendations on make etc please?

If you blank the EGR surely it will fail the UK MOT under new rules?

If it's a TD6 then the EGR can't be seen without removing covers which MOT inspectors won't do.

Removing the EGR and replacing with a blank as shown above allows much better airflow plus stops loads of exhaust crud entering the engine.

TD6 's run miles better with it removed.
