Shouldnโ€™t be, I would have thought ยฃ120 from an Indy. I changed both my front CV joints on my drive but it is quite involved without a ramp and having never done it before.

I wouldn't use the split ones myself.
I'll have a look what i did when i replaced mine, i have a write up somewhere, you would need a huge breaker bar and torque wrench and possibly ball joint splitters

Hi, just had this done...

I had both inner and outer boots done for ยฃ180 using genuine parts. There was about 45 mins extra labour in there for diagnostics so probably more like ยฃ150.

I'd recommend replacing as a pair as you have to take the outer off to fix the inner if it splits. Most kits come as a pair too.

You need a breaker bar and someone holding the brakes on to get the outer nut off (34 or 36mm 12 pointed socket, can't remember exactly). It's 400Nm.

I think you'll then need a puller to separate the half-shaft from the hub, but as I didn't have a puller or correct socket I opted for an indy to do mine.

Should be easy enough to do at home, let us know how you get on.

This is how i did mine, you can undo the hub nut with the wheel on if you can take out the centre cap from the wheel and lower the wheel back down. I didnt have a 400 Nm torque wrench so i used my weight on a big breaker bar and calculated the point at which i needed to stand to get the right torque.
The hardest part was getting the cv joint off but easy when you know how but basically forget the puller and just remove the boot and clean all the grease off and hold the cv joint in line with the diff , i dont know why that works but then give it a couple good taps with a decent size hammer and it should pop off. If you are doing the inboard i think you will need oil seals that go into the diff housing unless you can slide the inner boot along the shaft and off the same end as the outer.
