bluetooth connection

my 08 tdv8 has gone into stratstone MK again for numerous electrical gremlins.
the bluetooth does not always activate when i am in the vehicle (probably 50% of the time)
i am using a iphone 3gs
comes up on car screen as not connected but if someone calls me it allows me to answer from the car.
when the call is finished the car screen comes up with a keypad and a blank box with a X thru it saying wrong pin number.
LR are now saying the iphone 3gs is not compatable even though their website says full compatable and the phone works perfectly 50% of the time.
does anyone else have this problem with the iphone 3gs ??
comments would be appreciated

Tried it with a different phone?
Tried it with a different iPhone?

I had exactly the same problem with my Nokia.
LR suggested I look on the LR website.
It lists all phones and software versions supported by each year model of FFRR.
Sure enough, my phone was unsupported in the 08, but was by the 06. Maybe you need a software update?

I have the iphone 3gs and suffer the same issue.

A few things:

1. Select the VentureCam from the touch screen (leaving the actual thing where it is). This uses bluetooth so will override the phone connection. Then, using the menus, move away from the VentureCam and back to Nav (ie deselect it). This releases the bluetooth from looking for the Venturecam and it should look for phones again. Often the phone will then reconnect (but not always).

2. Sometimes making a call from the phone will trigger it. Clearly one should be stationary for it to be legal, else you will kill baby jebus and fluffy kittens will die.

3. Does yours have address book functionality? If not, Wiggs £60 exchange upgrade gives you that and seems more reliable (but not infallible).

4. Can go the whole hog and get the latest BT unit (but it needs some fiddling - not a straight swap). Might be better.

I don't think the VentureCam is the source of the problem but selecting/deselecting it is a way of "tricking" the system to search for phones again when on the move.

just heard back from stratstone MK
surprise surprise- land rover are telling them the iphone 3gs is not fully compatable so they don't want to do anything to fix the fault.
but, on the official LR website it shows that the iphone 3gs is compatable for my vin number but only partial as the call register/log doesn't work.
we knew this months ago and wasn't a problem ..
the problem is the car bluetooth only senses the phone 50% of the time.
so 50% of the time it's compatable and 50% it's not.
yet again, LR can't solve electronic problems so try to dismiss the fault.. Big Cry

update on the iphone / bluetooth saga........
stratstone are now telling me that they have had correspondence from LR technical.
by all accounts the problem is caused because i have a official LR ipod connectivity module fitted to the car.
this runs thru the canbus system and upsets the bluetooth intermittantly.
LR are now saying, even though they supplied/fitted the LR ipod connectivity kit when the vehicle was purchase, i can have either that or a working bluetooth..
i suppose their stance is F Censored k you we can't fix the problem so we will ignor it

I fitted my own to my 55 plate S/C and have a 3GS with no problems including phone book over BT, never had to do the venturecam dance either.

Perhaps there is a SW upgrade available for the Bluetooth Module?

I'll not get into the rant again but I really think that LR recruit many of their 'technicians' from pubs and betting shops...

Good luck sorting it.
Thumbs Up

i picked up a 2007 vogue in november, bluetooth was poor and didnt download the phonebook. Had them apply TB LTB00095 to the machine and all works well.

last and final update on this problem
just collected the car
stratstone have been told by LR if you have the official ipod connectivity kit in the car it plays up with the bluetooth.
nothing they can do about it (or probably don't want to )
so either take out the ipod kit or no bluetooth.
it's my choice Question
what a bloody attitude Sad

Perhaps the problem is with the iPhone?

Does the bluetooth work ok if you have one iPhone / iPod for music, and a separate one for making phone calls over Bluetooth?

Cheers
