Queue Assist

Quick question, is there a way to enable queue assist whilst actually in a queue? It works if i have cruise on and the traffic slows down etc, but i cannot find a way to start it if in a queue, which would be a logical thing todo?? Or maybe thats just me Wink

I think you have to be moving and engage cruise control so that queue assist comes on automatically. I would love to know if there is a way to do this when stationary though.

As far as I'm aware, you need to be moving and have a cruise speed already selected to do it.

The slowest a cruise speed can be set seems to be c20mph. Once set, it can be reactivated at c10mph. If there is no speed set in the system, you therefore first need to get to 20mph. If a speed is set, you need to be moving again to re-engage the system.

So, I think that it is impossible to set the system up or re-engage it if stationary.

whilst I like the concept of queue assist - and yes you need to be brave while you learn to trust that it will stop, I find the whole implementation of it rather crude. It often waits ages before moving off after the car in front has moved off and when it brakes, it brakes really firmly until at a stand still - there is no feathering the brakes or finessing the brake force applied. As such you come to a standstill with quite a jolt each time.

Cant say I use it any more as my passengers get tired of being thrown forward in their seats. Shocked

Agreed on the jerk-on-stop. I tend to use it either when I'm alone in the car or take over if the queue is stopping.

My Tesla is better.

I agree with your findings, can be a bit jerky much like the adaptive cruise. That sometimes can be quite sudden with braking and acceleration and certainly little finesse. Put's me off using both systems unless the traffic is moving at a reasonably constant speed or the queues are not too much stop start.

I have found the cruise to be pretty good but keeps you too far from the car in front, shame about the queue assist could be a great feature just the usual poorly executed LR algorithm Smile

Have you adjusted the distance to the minimum setting?

Tried the queue assist in a basic model Golf , it was a joy ,flexible ,smooth and just well designed .Such a shame the electrics on a range rover let it down again and again and again .

I find it only jerk stops the first time and then not uncomfortably. After this it slows earlier and creeps towards the car in front as if waiting for it to move forward so it can pull away smoothly without stopping. If the car in front doesn't move it slows to a smooth stop. The engine then stops and I need to use the accelerator to restart the engine and just start moving forward again. It won't do this on it's own when cars in front pull away.
I also find the adaptive cruise works very well, with smooth speed changes and braking. I have to watch the digital speedo to see if the car is slowing as it can't be felt doing so. I keep an eye out for the orange adaptive cruise icon to illuminate to the left of the instruments to signal when I need to pull out which then means the car doesn't slow at all. I find the gap control works as you'd expect and defaults to three bars but can be adjusted between one and five with the car remembering the last setting until switched off, then reverting to the default.
I don't have experience of any other brand of vehicle with ACC but find the FF version to work intuitively and smoothly.
