Scotland 2017 Range Rover Autobiography SDV8 Santorini Black
L405 suspension

I have just purchased a L405 4.4 vogue autobiography, i also have a L322 vogue, i have found in the l405 that the vehicle wallows and floats quite a bit it is fitted with 22" wheels, i feel that the shockers on the rear are soft as my l322 does not do this . is it me or does the l405 drive like that.
any comments appreciated Rolling Eyes 07 Vogue SE Java Black 3.6 TDV8

I believe there was an issue with the oil leaking within the dampers on these vehicles. It could be worth searching for previous posts concerning this.

Coming from an L320 RRS, my L405 is 'floaty' when cruising on the motorway and I put this down to the softer suspension providing more of a cushioned ride than the Sport. However, throwing it around some bends on A roads, it firms up, corners flat and handles really well.

Not sure if this helps, but the suspension is supposed to be dynamic and change it's behaviour depending on how and where you are driving. If you are finding it consistently floaty at all times, you may have a problem. Kev

Check the front track control arm bushes , can you twist the upper part even with the car on the ground . Do the same for the lower arm ( Wishbone ) bushes . You need the car jacked up for this .

We had a 3.6TDV8 and a 4.4 Autobiography with 32k sat on the drive on 21” wheels for a while and I can’t say I thought it wallowed or was over floaty (for a RR) I actually thought they both drove exceptionally well just the L405 was if anything flatter and more controlled when pushing on, not that you ever do in a RR and was generally just quieter. My other half couldn’t tell any difference in ride quality which I thought was a testament to the L332. Sold - Bell a 2015 MY16 Loire Blue Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

I was surprised to see how "wallowy" the L405 (20") is compared to the L322 (19"). We went to Greece last summer with friends that drove an Audi Allroad (3.0 TDI) and although we could keep up with them in straight line, the RR didn't stand a chance in curves... The dynamic mode helps, but not much... I think I read somewhere an interview in which a JLR person declared that clients required a smoother ride... 2019 Vogue P400e

If they(JLR) would also focus on autobahn and nürnburgring performance, it would not be one of the best go anywhere suv anymore. Smoothness and comfort over high speed and curves performance anytime.

Just sayin' that the L322 was much less scarier in curves... And performed quite well on rough surfaces too... 2019 Vogue P400e

Doesn't help the OP, but the reduction in body roll is one of the reasons I went for the V8 over the V6 diesel. But even with the anti roll system it still has more float and vertical movement than I like on a twisty road, so I put it into Dynamic which helps and doesn't ruin the ride. MY23 Panamera E-Hybrid
