United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE TDV8 Buckingham Blue
L322 10 Year Service Cost

So…. The independent garage I used for the last 2 or 3 jobs has quoted over £700 for the service this year. Seems a bit excessive I thought.

Looking in the Wiki though, and realising my car is now 10… is that a reasonable cost?

Looks like the below extra work will be needed. Hope changing the fluids doesn’t cause other issues….

Any thoughts?

Depends what’s they’ve included. Doubt the gearbox fluid is included at that price? 1995 4.6 v8, green/tan (long gone)

Ah, I remember the gearbox, sorry, the correct gearbox fluid not being cheap.

Don’t know what all the extra cost is though, if it’s not included….. I’m getting where I don’t trust garages……

Ffffff

Hi, I have been costing parts for a 175k service, and reckon on at least that for materials. £105 for gearbox filter and oil, £370 at Landrover prices plus labor. At least a day's time under cover. Change all pulleys and belts, also what else one finds that needs attention. We paid £1700 + for a 150k service on a Freelander 2 a couple of years ago at an independant specialist. Add in brake parts if needed, it soon adds up, then if you have to sub it out add up to £1000 for labor.

Strangly enough, a high mileage Tesla will cost about the same to service at 150k.

I don’t mind spending on it….. given the above, I need to make sure the correct fluids etc are used. I’m not cutting corners on parts…. But happy to get better labour rates….

I think I need to find out a bit more about what fluids they use and what exactly they will be doing.

….. they want £190 to fit side steps……that I already have…..

I paid around 550 for a ‘9 year’ B service which included:

Quote:
The A type includes inspection, levels checked / topped up, parking brake shoe adjustment, pollen filter replacement, engine oil and filter replacement.
The B type is the same but includes replacement of the engine air cleaners and fuel filter.

Try Ian Bodsworth for your diffs, transfer box and gearbox flushes. He did mine for a very reasonable sum and he comes to you http://updatesbybodsy.co.uk/. Have used him a few times now from when I had my D3.

Thanks for that. I would prefer someone who can do the gearbox and diff oils properly, so I will look to get in touch with him. If they do a mega flush, do you know how they manage the thermal valve that shuts in the 8 speed box?

I’m not convinced my usual garage have priced the right oil….
