And again[/quote]
When mine was misbehaving I fed a wire from the starter solenoid up to the battery, whenever it decided to not start I could activate the starter by touching it to the +ve terminal - worked every time.
I've still left it on now that it's fixed for peace of mind, every RR should have one!

Might not be the cause but when I had intermittent starter problems on both the p38 and the l322 it was because the cables had internal corrosion put an additional cable in and in both instances problem disappeared

"In fully charged condition @ 11.4~11.5"

That is a very dead battery. Should read 12.6 when fully charged and never lower than 12.4 when doing nothing.

Thats at the starter relay coil Smile

Listening to the workaround I now believe the problem is with the starter solenoid activation circuit, which over time gets out of spec and results in such issues. SOLD | Tuned MY 2011.5 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 TDV8 Orkney Grey | e-diff | ACC

I had the same problem after changing the alternator. Anybody who has replaced the alternator you will know that it is quite a strip down, disconnecting the battery is also required.

Sometimes pressing the start button would give a click and the dash would go off.
The battery terminals appeared to be tight but as a last resort before buying a new battery I re-tightened them tighter than I would normally think necessary and have had no problem since. It did not make sense to me as they were already tight but it worked.

What happens it that when the starter solenoid powers the starter the massive current draw causes a voltage drop sufficient for the dash to reboot, As soon as the dash reboots it drops the signal to the starter. It all happens very quickly and that is why you only get a click.

Just an update.

The replacement Denso has worked fine.

Seems the Spanish Garage fitted a 3.6 with no breather pipes.

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Baltic Blue

Our 4.4 TDV8 went through multiple starts within the first 21k miles (3 in total) and we all changed by the Land Rover dealer. It then failed on us again in September 2019 at which point I fitted a Denso one that we sourced from Euro Car Parts and it’s been fine for nearly 3 years now.

Hopefully this is the end of all your problems.
