Started tackling this today, jeeze this is going to be fun Shocked

To replace all pulley/ idler bearings defo not doable without removing fan cowling.
I was hoping to not mess with the cooling pipes & having to remove hoses but it doesn’t look possible.

Idler near alternator looks to be failing as can see it wobble & looks to be pushing the belt off the tensioner pulley towards 2nd belt. So everything has to come off Big Cry

I’ve also seen a special tool needed to fit the belt on the fan pulley is this necessary or can you wind the belt on?

I did not have time to do my own + the dealer i brought it from paid the labour. I also changed the water pump at the same time as i have done these jobs before only to have the water pump fail soon after!!
My indi strips front end off for access he claims it takes an hour to strip front end but for the sake of access he prefers that route Thumbs Up 2012 Vogue 4.4 TDV8 - Current

As I'm removing coolant hoses I look may aswel change it all.

Couple of questions,
How much antifreeze do I need & what type? Should be red/pink?
Best source of antifreeze?
Can I use tap water to add to it or best to get pre mixed?
And is there a bleeding process? Assume losen bleed valve on top hose, any others?

Apologies if the info is on here, Ive searched but don't find much on the 4.4 TDV8

Thanks,

Thanks jayk69, just the Halfords silicate stuff? Don’t need OAT version?

Any idea on volume needed to do a full change?

I bought 5 litres of genuine coolant, STC 50530, from my local indy for £18 + vat. Just been looking on the net and I recon they have only charged me for 1 litre. Others are selling 5 litres for about £60+. Thought it was a bit cheap.

@rjh
you should use the pink OAT coolant is that's what's in already. If you mix them it will coagulate apparently.

Halfords is selling ready-mixed OAT for £6/ltr

This what my latest coolant and oil cooler change cost: 5l at £38.80+ vat.

Thanks for confirming dolphinboy,
Knew it should be the pink stuff but Halfords list both oat & silicate as perfect match for it. 2011 (MY12) 4.4 TDV8 Vogue

This is turning into an absolute mare of a job! Took best part of 4 hours to get 3 bolts out today. Big Cry & no idea how I'm getting them all back in when I re build it🤔

I think I only have one left to remove, looks to be the purple coloured one of 3 circled in picture. Not sure what's bolted on but metal with coolant hoses.

Any ideas how to access it as I can't get anything near it!

Well today is not a good day. this being my first post Sad after using this excellent forum to solve the underseat heating problem and then the hedgehog problem and then replacing the main blower. I was going to wait for it to be a bit warmer and dryer to solve my oil leak problem. on my way home from work this morning sudden rattling and flapping with lots of warnings stopped car had a look to find auxiliary belt shredded and wrapped around fan Sad so so far using this forum I have come to the point of do I need to remove the turbo actuator to remove the fan cowling? as that is the only thing I can see stopping me

I had the same issue a couple of months ago heard a flapping noise and steering went heavy I found bits of shredded belt wrapped around everything, typically I was on holiday and had to do mine outside our caravan on a holiday park with just some basic tools not a fun job at all especially getting that little belt on, I did mine without removing the fan cowl which was a struggle but I managed it. Luckily I keep a gap iid in the glovebox to clear all the warnings after (I had the same as you) but they never returned after clearing L322 4.4 TDV8 Current

Yep also got the gap iid tool, cleared the faults there were loads from no power to faulty suspension the only one that comes on now is the egr temp sensor, which was the only one before the belt shred. when I drive 100mtr the restricted performance comes back on but no additional codes, so I'm hoping its one of my connections
