After 3 years storage

Iv had my P38 locked up for the last 3 years except for it annual mot, charged the battery checked fluids, tyres and gave it a quick clean. Plan on running it over winter just to keep.it in tip top condition.

To be fair, I skipped the P38 and went Discovery TD5….. but I think they are coming into their own now. Decent ones not stupid expensive….. yet….

That looks well. Always liked Hurricane alloys.

Another few hours checking things over and I must say apart from the rear wiper not working, the motor brushes are worn to nothing I stripped it down and checked everything else is good.
Will get out the grease gun tomorrow for the UJs on the props as its been a while . Then give it a good clean inside and out paint looks good after all this time but needs a little workwith the polisher

Indeed Rob, thor v8 engine 4.6. Took it for a spin currently showing 18.5 mpg better than the wife's D3 Shocked . Still prefer the L322 it's surprising but this now feels small, slow and bumpy lol

They do feel small in comparison to later RRs and Discos. Mrs H’s D5 is huge in comparison. They are definitely slow…put your foot down and the engine makes more noise but the car stays the same speed, a magic trick!

I quite like the P38’s.

Over the first lockdown I dropped a new V8 Developments 4.6 with bigger valves, gas flowed heads and a torquemax camshaft into one of ours.

I’m just in the process of changing the heater matrix and reinstating the air con. You could put your finger through the holes in the condenser, then I found 2 leaking pipes along the bulkhead, replaced the pressure switches, and then overnight it was still loosing between 6 and 8 bar of pressure when I filled it with nitrogen.

I’ve got a new compressor on order from Rob at Duckworths and then hopefully that’s another job I can put to bed.

This one is a 2002 Vogue SE in Alveston Red. Smile

I am finding the p38 some what erm stone age like......compared to my L322 which is only 3 years newer but the bmw version of what a range rover should be.

I am still enjoying it tho so it's staying for the winter all the while I can store it, it will be staying but if I lose that then it might have to go. YouTube seems to be full of people trying to get a channel up and running and there are loads with L322 and P38s being saved.
