If you do want to do your own investigations, I would first change the oil and filter now, and send a sample away of the old oil for analysis who knows what other things are developing internally. As blow by, from bad rings will gunk up and certainly breakdown the oil you already have. Look at the filter in this thread page 5 https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic63193-165.html Also https://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic62361...e+breather Lots of good comments about breathers and separators being blocked to investigate as well Good luck 2018 SE SDV8 4.4 Byron Blue |

Difficult to reconcile your Indy’s diagnosis of ‘catastrophic failure’ with it driving smoothly with no smoke. All you will hear removing the filler will be the cam lifters. A faulty hydraulic lifter will make a loud tapping sound but never heard one on more modern cars. Is your Indy a LR specialist? 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

Was that video just after startup? If so I would expect water vapour and blow by gases getting into the crank case / cam covers. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322) |

If it’s still running and it’s not smoking etc, I’d get a second opinion. |

Think I’m going to do that, turns out my son watched the video and he said it’s been ticking on start up like that for months but as I rarely open the window I can’t hear it, can was sat for three weeks due to holiday I’m thinking after some research could it be hydronic lifters sticking, could someone take a video of the same engine and open the oil cap
