Got the battery on a smart charger to see?

HE put a booster pack on it and it fired straight up.

Doesn't rule out the possible resistance issue with the cable obviously but i think for now I'll try a replacement battery. 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE - 'Black Betty'

AGM battery? Also you will need a special security 5 point torx tool to get the ECU out of the way. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Also check the alternator is charging properly, and was not the cause of a dead battery.

To get an indicator of this (it's not scientific but will confirm yay or nay), you don't even need to open the bonnet.

With the engine running, get on the stereo:

1. Press the physical 'Home Menu' button
2. Press and hold the top banner on the screen for 5 seconds
3. Press the physical 'Navigation' button and hold until a pin entry screen appears
4. Press 7 5 3 then 'Ok'
5. Select 'Vehicle Signals'

In the top right corner, you'll see 'Battery Voltage'. It should be showing between about 13.5V and 14.5V. 2015 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 SDV8

That's the first thing I did after he started it - got IID plugged in. Loads of random codes cleared out and then on to Live Data for the battery/voltage. Was sitting around 14 and increased to around 14.3, 14.5 when revving so I think the alt is fine.

Once the new battery is in I'll go for a long cruise and record the data to make sure there's nothing dodgy going on. 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE - 'Black Betty'
