Megaflush, wow!

I’ve just had the gearbox megaflushed and wow, what a difference! The gear changes are now silky smooth, both up and down. I can thoroughly recommend it if it’s never been done on your 8-speed L322. 2011 TDV8 4.4 Vogue SE in Galway Green with Black leather

I would concur. I had Bodsy pay a visit earlier in the year and when the car was on 112,000 with an untouched gearbox. It was pretty smooth before, but a few hundred. miles post mega flush and it was incredibly smooth.

Mine had changed gearbox oil twice, first on 85000km (without flush) and now on 125000 (with flush). When compare old and new oil, there was just small difference in color, nothing serious. And no feel any diference in driving.

85k km works out at 52-53k miles, which is exactly when ZF recommend an oil change

If you didn't notice a difference in driving, then you got the oil done early enough

Those that do notice a difference, have left it a little late Thumbs Up

I also stay there when they change the oil and wach how they do it.
First, driving test with diagnostic connected. Put on gear, hold the brake and add throttle slowly up to 2000rpm (oil pressure test). Then driving thru all gears in manual mode.
Next they open the cap, drain the oil and take one test tube of old oil and compare with new oil (that was only to show me the deference).
Then they unscrew and remove oil pan with filter. Bring barrel with new oil, connect hose to intake pipe and start the engine. Pump suck new oil, old one just drain from the bottom of gearbox. Then put on gear, ang go thru all gears, including reverse. Flush is done. New oil pan on place, new oil in and its done!
Only place where is impossible get old oil out is oil cooler due closed thermostat. But there is not much oil.
Total 11L of oil.

Does the sump pan CW filter get changed in a 'megaflush' and do they use the genuine ZF lifeguard oil? 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

For gearbox smoothness it's also worth getting the latest software version from a garage with the JLR diagnostic tools. This gearbox is also used in the latter L405 so the original software in the L322 is not the latest. 2012 TDV8 Vogue (L322)

Sorry, only just seen this.
I had Bodsy do it in the end. I did enquire with the Alton guys, but Bodsy could come and do it on the drive, which was a lot more convenient than having to drop the car off and collect it later. Nothing against Alton 4x4, I just didn't have the option of dropping it off and picking it up later at the time.
BTW I also had the diffs and transfer box oil replaced at the same time. 2011 TDV8 4.4 Vogue SE in Galway Green with Black leather
